Living Globality: Focus on Arab Journalists
“Living Globality”, a project within HBF Beirut’s programme on cultural globalization, is meant to allow a circle of young journalists from Germany and the Arab World to create a long-term network for exchanging ideas and to co-operate in everyday work.

The main idea is to improve the way Germany and the Arab World perceive each other. It is built on the experience that sustainable dialogue can only emerge from initial personal experience and practical cooperation.

In May 2005, four journalists from the region will stay in Germany for a period of four weeks, visiting and working in several journalistic institutions focused on cultural issues. They will also contribute to some articles on "cultural globalization". Their German colleagues, who will later visit the Middle East, will help the guests to become familiar with the specific cultural, social, and media surroundings in Germany.

A conference on cultural journalism and globalization will later take place in September 2005 in Beirut, involving those young journalists from Germany and the Middle East from the exchange program, as well as other individuals active and interested in the field of culture and globalization.

The objective of the programme "cultural globalization", organized by the HBF middle-east office in Beirut, is to analyze the impacts of globalization on culture. Impulses from the cultural sphere to shape globalization are also supported.
