McPlanet.com 2.0 – consumption, globalization and the environment
What's the connection between environmental degradation and globalisation? How am I concerned? Can I live the way I want – and am I doing enough by separating my waste? All these are issues at McPlanet.com 2.0 in Hamburg, Germany, June, 3rd- 5th, 2005.

How much can I really change in view of corporate power and political deadlocks? Or is the fault inherent in the system? What is lost as a result of thinking only in terms global business and economics? What are the alternatives and what can I do to make them reality?

In 2003, McPlanet.com 1.0, “The Environment in the Globalisation Trap”, took place in Berlin and engaged more than 1.600 participants in debates on globalisation criticism and ecology. The sequel goes one step further, looking for sustainable ways of life in and for a globalised world. McPlanet.com connects the issues of personal responsibility, corporate power and the apparent limitations of political governance. In over one hundred events and debates, with art performances and cultural events as well as many international guests: McPlanet.com provokes, engages and inspires. Globally and locally.

Speakers in Hamburg include Sara Larrain of Chile Sustentable und International Forum on Globalization, the famous economist Manfred Max Neef, Martin Khor of Third World Network, Meena Raman of BUND/Friends of the Earth, Malaysia, chinese Greenpeace-activist Ailun Yang and Sunita Narain, Centre for Science and Environment (CSE) in India. The detailed program is available online.
